Little Candles School
As of 2024, the Little Candles School has an enrolment of 240+ students from 4-8 years old (K1-P2). Located in the rural town of Phrao, 100km North of Chiang Mai, the school provides bi-lingual (Thai and English) education and aims to give the children the best start in life. Our hope is that education will enable families to escape the poverty cycle and its associated dangers (such as child prostitution and drug abuse).
School fees are maintained at an affordable price and sponsorships are given to students from financially challenging. Christian worship and teaching form the backbone of the school's ethos and practice. Besides 25 full-time staff, the school also relies on the help of missionaries and volunteers to provide the children with the opportunity for quality education.
The Kindergarten Section was opened in January 2012. The Primary section was dedicated by the Bishop of the Methodist Church and opened by the Governor of Chiang Mai on March 20th 2024

Creativity and Imagination
The Little Candles School program uses the latest innovative teaching styles to develop the children. Although a not-for-profit rural school, our teachers are well trained with the latest educational skills that focus on child's play, crafts, songs, and even agricultural skills. Children at the school plant rice and strawberries, have fun with water play and make appetizing snacks during cooking class. Academically, they are taught Maths, Thai, Science, International studies and learn English and Chinese as second languages.
Developing a Child's Faith
The Christian faith forms the core and backbone of the school. The children engage in bible lessons taught by Christian staff and church workers. Prayer and worship are also a key component of their daily activities. Teachers attend weekly bible study, and courses for exploring Christianity are available for non-Christian staff. Our mission is to bring the Word of God to the children, staff, parents, and community.
